The lead suspect in an international pedophile investigation studied in Mission to be a priest.

Thai police named Christopher Paul Neil, a 32-year-old Canadian formerly of Maple Ridge, as a suspected pedophile who allegedly appears in 200 Internet images abusing young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Neil attended The Seminary of Christ the King in Mission as a student from 1995 to 1999, Father Abbot John confirmed.

After he completed his arts studies, he chose to discontinue further studies for the priesthood.

"We are only just learning about the details of this story as it develops," said Father John. "These are serious allegations of a most reprehensible conduct. Our hearts go out to the victims of all such crimes."
