JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A former Jacksonville youth pastor indicted on two child pornography charges was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment on Thursday.

A former worker at Lake Shore Baptist Church on Blanding Boulevard, 36-year-old Richard Steven Sweat, of Orange Park, was found guilty of the receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography after a three-day trial.

According to court documents, Sweat downloaded videos of child pornography on Sept. 5 and 6, 2005, using a file-

sharing program designed to find and share documents, photographs, music and videos.

Sweat's wife had discovered an earlier download of a child pornography video on the computer after soliciting a computer expert's advice about what was stored on the computer, according to the Department of Justice.

They said the wife's concern had been triggered by Sweat's late-night sessions on the computer behind closed doors.

Sweat's wife turned the computer over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI's computer forensic analyst discovered that child pornography videos had been downloaded using the file-sharing program, and that the videos had been transferred to an external hard drive before being deleted.

Sweat's case was part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood — a national initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
