The rebel parish priest has gone beyond any limit. Church officials have started a penal administrative procedure.

The curia is trying Rev. Sante Sguotti for having committed impure acts.

It is alleged that he violated the sixth commandment, refused obedience to his superior and incited his parishioners to disobey the bishop.

From Mount Sinai to Monterosso, the commandments make the rebel priest tremble. To ruin is day yesterday, he received a letter from the curia notifying him of the "starting of the penal administrative trial." Rev. Sguotto at 11 a.m. today will have to appear at the curia to explain his reasons.

The trial has been started for scandal in "de sexto" matter, meaning it is about the sixth commandment that forbids impure acts, for having disobeyed a legitimate superior and for having "incited to disobedience against the bishop."

These are grave accusations in which Rev. Sante will have to bow his head. The curia in using the sixth acommandement, is saying that it believes the love between Rev. Sante and Tamara (or Laura as the priest calls her) has never been as platonic as he says.

This is the allegation but as for penance, the priest risks his right to say Mass and be, as it's said in technical terms, "reduced to the lay status." To sum it up, the risk is the former parish priest of Monterosso could also be transformed into a "former priest."

Rev. Sante's view of the curia does not soften. "The bishop behaves like an absolute tyrant. He only wants to impose his power," the priest eplained. The harsh judgment is extended to the Rev. Giovanni Brusegan, whom he met a few days ago.

"I found him very angry at me. He accused me of unduly influencing the minds of many people at Monterosso. Then he said I was a hypocrite and a liar," he said. This is very different behavior from one usually seen in Rev. Brusegan.

No one knows now what the former parish priest is going to do. If he will go to the curia to explain his reasons or if he'll ignore once more the invitation-imposition of the bishop, we will find out during the day. It is sure Rev. Sante does not seem to be frightened even by this trial.

"The representation of my person by those who want to harm me makes me even appear better than I am for it is their malevolence which made me a personage in the media and on TV," he said. Welcome then to this new decree, the priest said, "I'll be forced to become more famous!"

If predictions of the rebel priest come true, we will have to get accustomed to his presence at Buona Domenica and other TV shows.
