The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington has reached an out-of-court settlement with a former parish official in Caroline County and her husband, a church deacon.

Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. The (Easton) Star Democrat reports attorneys declined comment.

Plaintiffs Jaynie and Bradley Taylor filed the suit seeking $12 million in January against the Saint Benedict's Church of Ridgely; its pastor, the Reverend Norman Carroll, the bishop and the diocese. Jaynie Taylor claimed she lost her job as parish director of religious education after she refused to ignore hiring policies for a convicted sex offender and after Carroll allegedly made her take responsibility for an adult youth minister believed to be in a relationship with an underage girl.
