  $400K for Pastor Accused of Abuse
Rev. Jose Rolando Morales Charged with Abusing Boy for Several Years

CHICAGO — Bond was set at $400,000 Friday for a church pastor accused of sexually assaulting a young boy over a period of several years.

Jose Rolando Morales, 49, of Mt. Prospect, was charged Thursday with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and criminal sexual assault. Morales is the founding pastor of Ashland Christian Ministries, a non-denominational church located at 3637 W. Montrose Ave. in the Albany Park neighborhood, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.

Police said the victim was a member of the church and belonged to its youth group. He was 11 when the abuse started and is now 22, the sheriff's office said.

Morales was arrested Wednesday night following an investigation by Cook County Sheriff's Police Child Exploitation Unit officers, according to the sheriff's office.
