MARTINS FERRY, OH -- Bishop Daniel Conlin of the Diocese of Steubenville has relieved father Gary Zalenski of his duties as a pastor. Conlon releasted a statement saying he has a credible accusation regarding Zalenski sexually assaulting a minor in 1991.

Father Zalenski called the accusation a lie.

"There's at least one blatant lie, possibly more, but we haven't had the time to do enough research and investigation ourselves. The allegation is a lie," Zalenski said.

Zalenski feels hurt after the parish has withdrawn him from active ministry.

Father Zalenski also said he and his attorney are working on a prepared statement and that he hopes this matter will be resolved as soon as possible.
