BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - A Bloomington minister accused of sedating and molesting four boys has been granted a delay in his trial until federal charges are settled.

McLean County Circuit Court Judge Kevin Fitzgerald granted a delay request from defense attorney Steve Skelton.

Skelton said his client, James Love, would have a better chance of getting a concurrent sentence if his state trial comes after he faces charges in federal court.

The judge also authorized supervised visits between Love and his 14-year-old son.

Love has pleaded not guilty to sexual abuse charges.

He was minister at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington before his arrest in May. He also was a substitute teacher for schools in Bloomington and Normal.
