ATHENS, Greece: Greek police arrested a woman accused of brutally abusing her three underage children and forcing one of them to work as a sex slave, authorities said Friday.

The woman's boyfriend was also arrested, along with a 60-year-old Orthodox priest and an 83-year-old man, both allegedly among the couple's customers.

Police said the woman, 33, and other suspects were arrested Wednesday in the west Athens area of Ilion. The three children — brothers aged 8 and 9, and their 11-year-old sister — were taken into state care.

The girl had been forced to work as a sex slave for the past five years, while all three children were routinely beaten and physically abused, police said in a statement.

"The children were ... subjected to various forms of torture, including being forced to walk on thumb tacks with their bare feet, being told to stand on one leg for long periods, and being tied to trees with ropes or chains," the statement said.

Police said the mother was also accused of photographing and videotaping her daughter while she was being forced to have sex, as well as forcing a second girl, aged 8, to work as a sex slave.

Investigators also found photographs and videotape of the 8-year-old boy while he was being ordered to undress in front of the 83-year-old suspect.

The couple was charged with multiple criminal counts of sexual assault, pimping and pandering, and recording indecent material. They face a maximum of 25 years in prison.

The other two suspects were charged with multiple counts of rape.

Police said the Orthodox priest had sex with one of the girls inside a chapel two years ago.
