Psychological testing has been ordered for a Calgary man who sexually abused his developmentally delayed adult daughter.

Provincial court Judge Terry Semenuk yesterday asked that a report be prepared after the 60-year-old man entered a guilty plea to sexual assault.

In an agreed statement of facts, the man admitted molesting his daughter more than 20 times, including one incident in 2006 where he sodomized her.

The victim, now 38, was abused over a two-decade period, beginning in 1987, the court exhibit said.

The victim has the intellectual function of a 10- to 12-year-old, court was told.

The offender told the victim not to tell anyone and said "she was stupid and no one would believe her," said the statement of agreed facts. It also said the mentally challenged victim was told if she confided the abuse to her mother, the mother would force her to leave the home.

The assaults came to light after the woman disclosed the abuse to her pastor.

Defence lawyer Tonii Roulston and Crown prosecutor Will Shiplett will present sentencing arguments in court April 28.
