HARTFORD, Conn. - The Archdiocese of Hartford says it will pay nearly $600,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by a man who claimed he was sexually abused by a priest in Bloomfield in the 1970s.

The settlement involves allegations against the Rev. Stephen Foley. It's the 12th settlement the archdiocese has paid to settle sexual abuse claims against Foley.

F. Glenn Sutherland had filed suit in 2002 claiming he was sexually molested by Foley while he was an altar boy at Christ the King Church in the early 1970s.

The settlement Wednesday came as jury selection was to begin in Sutherland's lawsuit.

Foley has reportedly moved to Virginia. His attorneys indicated he would not be returning to Connecticut to testify at the trial.
