It was five years ago this week that the New Hampshire attorney general's office released 9,000 pages detailing accounts of clergy sex abuse in the Manchester Diocese. Today, seven members who worked on the case were honored in Concord.

In March of 2003, the AG's office released 9,000 pages of church records -- an unprescedented account of abuse claims and the Diocese of Manchester's response to the cases.

The attorney general had been prepared to indict the diocese on child endangerment charges. Instead, there was a settlement. The diocese agreed among other things, to release its documents on sex abuse claims and submit an annual performance audit to the state.

Local members of Voice of the Faithful believe vigilance is necessary for truth, but they worry their fellow parishioners would prefer to forgive and forget.

A spokesman for the Manchester Diocese says it has an excellent working relationship with AGs and an open line of communication with its parishioners.

NECN's Lauren Collins has the story.
