A WHITBY vicar will discover his fate on Monday when a tribunal will hear an appeal after he was removed from office for having an affair with a married woman.

Rev David King was banned from practising for four years following a Church of England disciplinary tribunal in November last year for the relationship with mother-of-four Tracy Byrne.

The Chancery Court of York will sit at Leeds Combined Court Centre on Monday at noon to hear the appeal by Rev King.

Should the penalty be upheld, Rev King will lose his position as vicar of Middle Esk Moor and be banned from being a priest anywhere in the Church of England for the following four years.

At present he is suspended but is still Vicar of Middle Esk Moor although he has not been allowed to conduct any services.
