In an interview with the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, a Polish Catholic lawmaker has accused Church leaders of abdication of leadership in response to sex-abuse problems.

Jaroslaw Gowin, a member of the Polish parliament, said that the Catholic Church in Szczecin, Poland had lacked courage in the case of alleged sexual molestation at the city's St. Albert home for troubled youth. Gowin stated, "The Church should look out for the good of the victims, even if the accusations against a specific priest have yet to be verified. We have an example of the Church's lack of courage."
