SACRAMENTO—The Sacramento District Attorney's Office says Mexican authorities have arrested a priest wanted since 1992 on child molestation charges.

Gerardo Beltran had been living and working as a priest in a remote Mexican village. He was arrested this week.

Beltran served in the Catholic Dioceses of Sacramento from 1982 until 1991, when he fled as police began to investigate him.

He faces four counts of child molestation against two girls. Prosecutors say the abuse occurred from 1989 to 1991.

The district attorney's office says Beltran will be extradited.
