Yesterday the priests of the Diocese of Orange gathered for a day of prayer led by Fr. Gordon Moreland, SJ, who directs the House of Prayer for Priests in Orange. Then we celebrated the Chrism Mass at St. Columban's in Garden Grove, where Bishop Brown consecrated the three oils used during sacramental rites (oil of the sick, of catechumens, and Chrism for baptism, confirmation, and ordination). It was a good day.

And I'm happy (and relieved) to say that Monsignor John Urell is back home! After several months away, healing from the horrible stress of accusations and media attention, he came home for Holy Week. I don't know when he will go back to St. Norbert's, where he is Pastor.

He looks different. He lost 30 pounds--I don't know if that was intentional or if it was stress. You can see the change in his face, but I don't know if that is just weight loss or something else in his countenance. Life has been tough for him, and I hope and pray he will recover at get that joyful look again.
