ONE remote Gaeltacht community. Four convicted paedophiles and 52 confirmed victims.

Eugene Greene served in eight parishes in the Raphoe Diocese. He lured his victims with promises of odd jobs and driving lessons. He abused boys in the priest's house, his car, a bog, a mountain side, a church loft and even in the church sacristy.

Eventually, 26 victims came forward and Greene was sentenced to 12 years.

Teacher Denis McGinley chose his victims from "a conveyor belt" of schoolboys he taught. He even had pornographic material delivered to the school by mail order.

He abused in the classroom in front of other pupils or behind bushes at the back of the school. He gave boys lifts and abused them in his car.

Eleven victims came forward and McGinley was sentenced to two years.

Jimmy O'Donnell, described in court as a dwarf, was often called on to baby-sit in a community where he was accepted and trusted. He sexually abused boys and girls, often in their own homes, and threatened to kill their parents if they disclosed.

Another abuser, who was never named in court, befriended local boys, lured them to his home, showed them pornographic material and abused them. Nine victims came forward and he was sentenced to 12 years.
