WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- West Hartford police are trying to identify men who are persons of interest in a case where more than 50,000 child pornography slides were found in the home of a prominent doctor.

The slides were found last May in a hidden storage space by the current owner of Dr. George Reardon's former home.

The cache included 50,000 35 mm slides and more than 100 8 mm movie reels. Police believe Reardon may have victimized hundreds of children beginning in the 1950s at his medical offices and at St. Francis.

Police have been seeking the identities of the children in the pictures and videos, and more than 80 people have come forward saying they were molested and photographed during medical examinations by Reardon.

More than 85 people have filed lawsuits against St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, accusing them of failing to protect them from the once prominent endocrinologist. Reardon worked there for 30 years before his death in 1998.

Police said the photos may have been taken sometime in the 70s and that the males in the photos are involved in sexual acts with children.

It is unknown if any of these persons are related to or affiliated with Reardon, police said.

Anyone with any information on the identities of these males should contact the West Hartford Police Department Detective Division at 860-523-2070.
