Rome, May. 13, 2008 (CWNews.com) - Bishop Alessandro Maggiolini, the retired head of Italy's Como diocese, will be charged as an accomplice in a sex-abuse case, according to Italian media reports.

The bishop, who retired in 2006 after reaching the canonical age limit of 75, is likely to be cited by the prosecution in the case of a mentally handicapped boy who was allegedly assaulted by a priest in 2004. The priest, Father Mauro Stefanoni, faces up to 8 years in prison if convicted.
