EL PASO, Texas -- The jury found the Catholic priest accused of sexual assault not guilty Thursday afternoon on all counts.

The Rev. Philip Taban, 39, was accused of raping an 18-year-old woman.

The alleged victim said she went to Taban's residence to seek spiritual advice but instead she was raped by him.

She said she went to work later that day and went to see him again after she got off work, and she was raped again.

Taban's defense attorney said it was sex between two consensual adults.

"It's not illegal for a priest to have sex. Whatever the church does to him that's what they do, but they cannot prosecute him," said defense attorney Luis Aguilar.
