A Machesney Park Church is going through hard times right now after its pastor is accused of sexual assault. For the first time tonight the interim pastor speaks out.

Earlier this month 40 year old Jonathon Powell plead not guilty to four counts of criminal sexual assault with two young girls.

Today interim pastor Josh Rivers says there will be a lot of changes at New Hope Baptist Church. For one, their Christian School will be down sized due to a loss of staff and students. Rivers also says it is not his duty to pass judgment on Powell but the allegations are not condoned and he would never attempt to cover them up. Rivers is inviting anyone to come visit the church and help with it's growth.
