WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man has filed a lawsuit alleging that he was sexually abused by a former Syracuse priest who worked for the Diocese of Wilmington.

Fifty-6-year-old John Michael Vai alleges that as a teenage altar boy, he was abused by the Reverend Francis DeLuca more than 100 times. Defendants in the lawsuit filed Friday are the diocese and Saint Elizabeth's Church.

Vai's is the fifth lawsuit by alleged victims of DeLuca, who was sentenced to 60 days in a New York jail last year for repeatedly molesting his 18-year-old grandnephew.

DeLuca is 1 of 20 diocesan priests against whom the diocese has confirmed allegations of child sexual abuse. His victims allege that church officials, who have since apologized for DeLuca's abuse, knew he was a molester but did nothing to protect children from him.
