INDIANTOWN — An Indiantown man was arrested by the Martin County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday evening on charges of false imprisonment and domestic battery.

Pastor Wilfredo Arnaz-Rodriguez, 50, attacked his girlfriend two nights earlier seemingly unprovoked, according to the arrest report.

According to the report, she asked Rodriguez why there was no food in their home just before he jumped her. Rodriguez restrained her by sitting on top of her arms, slapping her across the face and choking her. Rodriguez also kept her in their home against her will by blocking the bedroom door and taking away her cell phone, according to the report.

While Rodriguez was being arrested with the help of the Sheriff's Office Victims Unit, the girlfriend told officials Rodriguez had physically abused her several times in the past. She said her fear of Rodriguez kept her from reporting the abuse.
