Mark Campobello -- a defrocked Catholic priest who admitted sexually assaulting two teenage girls over a period of several months -- was released Tuesday after more than three years in prison.

Campobello, who was released temporarily earlier this year, had pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl over five months in 1999 while living in the rectory of St. Peter Church in Geneva.

Mark Campobello

he former Aurora and Geneva priest also pleaded guilty to molesting a 15-year-old girl while she was a student at Aurora Central Catholic High School in 1999 and 2000, while he was assistant principal there.

He was expelled from the priesthood in 2005, while in prison. His former diocese has apologized to the two victims, now adults, and settled a lawsuit they filed for $2.2 million.
