NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Two men are suing the Archdiocese of Hartford, claiming they were sexually assaulted by a priest at a Derby Roman Catholic church in the 1980s.

The two, who were altar boys, have filed the lawsuits in New Haven Superior Court. They claim they were abused after the archdiocese transferred the Rev. Ivan Ferguson from another church where it had been alleged he abused boys.

Ferguson died in 2002.

In December 2005, the archdiocese agreed to a $22 million settlement with 43 people who claim they were abused by Ferguson and 11 other priests since the 1960s.

The Rev. John Gatzak, spokesman for the archdiocese, could not be reached for comment Wednesday. The archdiocese has a policy of not commenting on ongoing litigation.
