OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A Catholic nun convicted of stealing money from the Archdiocese of Omaha has been given three to five years in prison.

Sister Barbara Markey was sentenced Friday.

The 73-year-old pleaded guilty to taking more than $250,000 from church funds to cover personal expenses and gambling debts.

Markey was charged in April with theft by deception.

She was fired as director of the archdiocese's Family Life Office in January 2006 after irregularities arose during an audit.
