Queensland police say allegations that a Catholic priest took pictures of naked schoolboys were investigated, but there was insufficient evidence to support the claims.

Channel Seven reported last night that the priest, who had been attending World Youth Day in Sydney, recently came to the attention of Queensland police.

The allegations were made by three former students at Villanova Catholic college in Brisbane and date back more than 20 years.

Police have confirmed that three complaints were made in 2003 and 2004, but there was not enough evidence to pursue the matter.

"He liked to photograph naked boys," one anonymous former student told Channel Seven.

"During the process, I'm crying," said another alleged victim, Matthew Pedrazzini.

The priest was moved to a home in Sydney after the investigation began, next door to another Catholic school.

He is reportedly no longer taking part in World Youth Day.
