Sean Walsh emerges from his basement apartment in Mount Pearl with two documents in hand - an apology from Roman Catholic Bishop Douglas Crosby for abuses Walsh received from a priest as a young man, and a copy of settlement he got for those abuses in 2005.

"They're not worth the paper they're written on," he says, flipping through them.

More than three years after the settlement, he's still waiting on 40 per cent of his money from the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corp. of St. George's - as are about 40 other victims of sexual abuse.

Walsh was abused by former priest Gary Hoskins while in the Deer Lake area during the summer of 1983, on a weekend trip to learn more about the priesthood. At the time, he was thinking of joining the clergy.
