A former priest convicted on federal charges of stealing from two Louisa County churches appeared back in court Monday morning.

Rodney Rodis now faces multiple state charges in Louisa County.

The 13-count indictment accuses Rodis of embezzling money from two Louisa County parishes between September 1995 and September 2006.

Rodis' lawyer explained why his client did not enter a plea to the charges Monday.

"We asked the court to continue the arraignment so the Commonwealth could notify me as to what the new offense dates are going to be to 13 counts of the indictment, and we have a fair opportunity to respond on the specific charge; what is it going to be not what it is now, which is going to be changed," said Rodis' Attorney, Jack Maus.

Rodis will remain incarcerated in federal prison in North Carolina until his next court date in Louisa County, which is scheduled for September 8th.

CBS19 also learned Monday that Rodis is being treated for prostate cancer.
