WILMINGTON — Attorneys for a man claiming he was molested by a Catholic priest previously identified as a pedophile have filed a lawsuit against the Diocese of Wilmington.

The 61-year-old man, whose name was not released, alleges in the lawsuit filed today that he was repeatedly molested by the Rev. Edward Carley while he was an altar boy at St. Ann's church 50 years ago.

A spokesman for the diocese declined to comment on the lawsuit.

The diocese previously acknowledged that Carley, who died in 1998, had abused another young boy while an assistant pastor at St. Ann's. The victim in that case received a $65,000 settlement in 2005.

Carley also is alleged to have molested a third victim who filed a lawsuit in 2006, shortly after the diocese released the names of 20 suspected pedophile priests, including Carley.
