  Nun Found Hanging in Port Kollam

KOLLAM: A nun was found hanging at the St Mary's Convent, Port Kollam, on Monday. Anupa Mary, 22, daughter of Pappachan and Bijiamma of St Jude Villa, Kanjirode, Kundara, was found hanging in the bedroom of the convent around 4 p.m. She was the second of the six children of the couple.

She had been serving at the Pattathanam Convent till recently.

She came to the St Mary's Convent at Port Kollam on May 27. She was a member of the Vimala Hrudaya Franciscan congregation.

Pallithottam police have recovered a suicide note from the convent.

In the suicide note she had expressed her difficulty to adjust the new environment in the convent, it is learnt. She had also recorded, in the suicide note, her disagreement with the Mother Superior of the convent.

Hearing the incident, a large number of people, mainly parishioners of the Port Kollam Church came to the convent.

The local people and the priest of the Port Kollam Church tried to prevent the visual media from taking visuals outside the convent.

A strong posse of police have come to the convent to supervise the inquest. The body was taken to the Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, for post-mortem.
