	Cardinal George's Deposition Released in Clergy Sex Abuse Settlement Chicago Public Radio August 13, 2008 http://www.wbez.org/Content.aspx?audioID=27664 A deposition given by Chicago's Cardinal Francis George to an attorney for victims of clergy sex abuse can now be seen on the Archdiocesan Web site. It's the first time in the history of the Catholic Church such a transcript has been publicly released as part of a settlement with victims. Yesterday George announced a $12.6 million settlement. GEORGE: The Archdiocese is committed to helping overcome these consequences and join victims in their efforts to see that no child has to suffer what the victims have endured. But attorney Jeff Anderson says George will have to keep his word in dealing with future allegations of clergy abuse. ANDERSON: I want him to model the transparency that has been demonstrated in this process where files are turned over, secrets are no longer kept. As part of the settlement, George also publicly apologized to victims and their families.
