A PRIEST sacked over an 18-year affair with a married parishioner is to marry another woman.

Monsignor Joseph Creegan will wed Anne Marie Ogden whom he counselled during her marriage breakdown.

Friends say the couple plan to elope abroad for a secret ceremony next month.

The revelations prove that Creegan, 67, and Ogden, 49, are more than just the good friends they have claimed to be.

An insider said: "It is going to be a civil ceremony because despite his huge ego he can't find anyone to marry him locally.

"They're going to enjoy a quiet holiday with visits from family and friends.

"You could not make it up. His arrogance knows no bounds.

"She'll hopefully wake up one day and realise what she's done to her family."

Creegan bought a share in a rural farmhouse with Ogden, former wife of a respected Dundee doctor, but denied they were anything other than friends when confronted by Bishop Vincent Logan.

She went to Creegan with husband Graham for marriage counselling. Graham later described the monsignor as "a dark cloud hovering over our marriage".

After Creegan became close to Ogden his married mistress of 18 years confessed all to Bishop Logan, including their joint ownership of a yacht and holidays abroad.

The bishop apologised to parishioners for "the hurt caused" by the shamed priest.

Creegan was stripped of his role in the Dunkeld diocese and lost a grace-and-favour ?200,000 riverfront apartment in Dundee.

Shamed Creegan lodged an unfair dismissal claim against the Catholic church and had threatened to reveal church scandals involving homosexuality and booze

But he dropped the case two weeks ago amid suspicions off a pay-off to keep quiet.
