DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — A former Delaware County pastor who pleaded guilty to sexual battery was in court Monday to receive his sentence.

Brian Williams

BOTTOMLINE: Brian Williams will spend eight years behind bars; he was sentenced to four years for each of two counts of sexual battery. The two four-year sentences will be served consecutively.

The Delaware County Prosecutor's Office said Senior Pastor Brian Williams attacked a 15-year-old girl during a scheduled appointment in early March at the Sunbury Grace Brethren Church.

Prosecutor David Yost said the teen met with Williams to talk about her grades.

Williams will serve eight years in prison, NBC 4's Lauren Diedrich reported. Williams also will need to register as a Tier-3 sexual offender for the rest of his life.

Williams was sentenced to four years for each of two counts of sexual battery; the maximum sentence was 10 years.

Diedrich said Williams cried and apologized to the victim in the courtroom. He asked for her forgiveness and said it was his fault and that she should never blame herself.

The victim and her family did not grant an interview with Diedrich.
