MIDWEST CITY — A former deacon received a lengthy prison sentence for sexually assaulting a teenage church member.

Orlando Javier Wynn, 41, pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree rape, lewd acts with a child younger than 16 and forcible oral sodomy.

Wynn was initially scheduled to stand trial Monday on 12 charges involving the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl.

He avoided trail by making a plea agreement with Oklahoma County prosecutors. As part of the plea deal, Wynn was sentenced to 25 years under the supervision of the state Corrections Department and was ordered to spend at least 15 years in prison. He is required to register as a sex offender.

Wynn was a deacon at Divine Wisdom Worship Center in Midwest City, a church known for reformation of gang members. The congregation has partnered in the past with the Oklahoma County district attorney's office to host rallies to stop community violence.

Wynn was arrested in September 2007. The girl told investigators Wynn approached her after a youth meeting and asked her to e-mail him nude photographs of herself, according to court records. Wynn took the girl to a park during several school lunch hours and assaulted her, records state.

Police said church officials cooperated with the investigation.

The Rev. Theodis Manning told The Oklahoman Wynn was not a gang member, although he had a criminal record before joining the church. Wynn was one of the most trusted officials at the church, Manning said.

Court records show Wynn has previous convictions for drug distribution and possessing a firearm after a previous felony conviction.
