PASTOR Isaac Kiwewesi of Kansanga Miracle Centre in Kampala has denied allegations that he sodomised a member of his congregation.

In a statement issued yesterday, Kiwewesi said: “I state that these allegations are unfounded, baseless and absolutely untrue. I hereby disassociate myself from them.”

The claims, he said, were concocted by people who wanted to tarnish his name.

“They have caused damage to my church, family and friends and to the good image I have built over the years,” the statement read.

The statement was read to journalists at the offices of Shonubi, Musoke and Company Advocates, a Kampala-based law firm.

Following an allegation by Andrew Arinaitwe, that he was sodomised between 2004 and 2006, Police at Kabalagala Police Station summoned Kiwewesi.

A Police officer who requested anonymity said: “He denied the allegations and investigations are still going on. We hope to gather more information about the matter.”

Kampala Extra Police spokesperson Simeo Nsubuga said Arinaitwe was yesterday subjected to a medical examination to ascertain whether he was sodomised.

Kiwewesi’s interpreter Henry Wanyama said: “After the service, the pastor is escorted to his residence. How would he interact with the accuser?”

Wanyama told journalists that Arinaitwe had stolen a vehicle belonging to a church member before disappearing. He added that the vehicle was recovered.

Kiwewesi’s personal assistant since 2003, Charles Kasibante said: “The story tarnished my name.”
