CULPEPER, Va. (AP) A Virginia pastor who pleaded guilty to fraud and other charges will spend four years in prison and must pay $25,000 in restitution.

The Reverend Charles Shifflett received sentences totaling 100 years Wednesday but Judge John McGrath suspended all but four years of the terms.

In addition to the restitution, McGrath ordered Shifflett to pay $14,500 in back taxes and penalties to the state.

Shifflett had pleaded guilty in June to nine counts of obtaining money by false pretenses from his former congregation at Calvary Baptist Church, three counts of filing fraudulent documents to obtain a worker's compensation award, five counts of obtaining money by false pretenses from two insurance companies and three counts of making false statements on state income tax returns.

The 57-year-old Shifflett is pastor of First Baptist Church, also in Culpeper.
