A federal bankruptcy judge in Portland will issue a ruling on whether to release additional files about priests accused of sexual abuse.

The awaited decision from Judge Elizabeth Perris follows the Archdiocese of Portland's $50 million settlement with accusers last year.

The archdiocese released some documents as part of the settlement, which covered about 175 claims and in addition set aside another $20 million for possible future claims. Hundreds of documents were placed on a website. But a small group of accusers refused to agree to settlement terms and asked Perris to release additional documents.

Perris has agreed to make a separate ruling in the case, but did not say when she would make her decision.
