GOUVERNEUR — Several more girls have come forward alleging they were victimized by Robert D. Storie, a state police investigator said Friday.

The Gouverneur man is accused of repeatedly fondling two girls at Richville Baptist Church. The 59-year-old was charged Tuesday with five counts of second-degree sexual abuse, three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of child endangerment, all misdemeanors.

He is accused of fondling the girls — ages 15 and 12 — after coaxing them to hug him while attending the church at 209 Main St. during the past two months, state police investigators said.

Mr. Storie was arraigned in Gouverneur Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $500 bail. He has since made bail. A hearing in DeKalb Town Court is pending.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are pending. Anyone with information can call Investigator Brian J. Langtry in Gouverneur at 287-2870.

Mr. Storie was convicted in February 2003 in Gouverneur Village Court of third-degree sexual abuse, the St. Lawrence County district attorney's office said. He was charged in October 2002 by Gouverneur village police with third-degree sexual abuse and child endangerment after he reportedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.

A message left for Mr. Storie wasn't returned Friday.
