A former priest accused of stealing up to $1 million from the two Louisa County parishes he led is to stand trial today in Louisa Circuit Court on 10 embezzlement counts.

Rodney L. Rodis, 52, is already serving a five-year prison term on federal court convictions of wire fraud, mail fraud and money laundering that occurred during his time as pastor of Immaculate Conception and St. Jude Catholic churches.

A suspicious donation deposit discovered a few months after Rodis retired in May 2006 led to an investigation that revealed he had been living a secret life with his wife and children near Fredericksburg while serving as pastor in Louisa.
