Rodney Rodis has been found guilty on state charges of embezzling more than half million dollars from his two Louisa County churches: St. Jude Catholic Church and the Immaculate Conception. The former Roman Catholic priest was already convicted on federal charges.

Rodis faced 10 state charges in all for alleged embezzlement occurring from 2003 to 2006. Thursday, the second day of the trial, a 12 person jury found him guilty on all charges.

During the sentencing portion of the trial, the prosecution called witnesses to the stand who spoke about the emotional effect Rodis' actions have had on the church and parishioners. The prosecution also pointed out there had been no restitution so far.

The defense called Rodis to the stand. He apologized and explained he did what he did to help his family and other people in the Phillippines, where he's from.

After deliberation, the jury recommended 20 years in jail for each count. There will be a sentencing hearing in January.
