PITTSFIELD, Mass. - A defrocked priest who served at a number of Capital Region parishes pleaded not guilty Tuesday to sexual abuse charges.
Gary Mercure was arraigned in Berkshire County on four counts, including rape of a child with force.

The incidents are alleged to have happened in 1986 and 1989 in Great Barrington and New Ashford, Massachusetts.
Mercure served at parishes in Troy, Clinton Heights, Glens Falls, Queensbury and Latham.
He was suspended from the ministry in January and defrocked in August.
