KOTTAYAM (ICNS): Father of a catholic nun murdered 16 years ago says he will move Supreme Court if culprits are not punished in the state High Court.

Thomas, the murdered nun’s father, told this at a press conference in Kottayam on Thursday, a day after two Catholic priests and a nun were arrested for their suspected involvement in the crime.

His statement comes in the wake of media speculation that culprits may escape punishment in the court for want of evidences. Reports say initial investigators themselves had destroyed most primary proofs soon after the nun’s body was found in the convent well in 1992.

"The accused must be punished as they deserve it. But I will get that assurance only after producing the accused in the court," he told the media gathered.

Court remanded the arrested in police custody for 14 days for further investigations and help the police find the missing links in the case. The CBI official who investigated the case expressed confidence to present ample evidences for the involvement of the arrested in the murder.

But even if the case fails in the state High Court, “I will go to the Supreme Court for justice. I want the truth to be out. I should know why my daughter was killed. The culprits should be punished,” he said.

Thomas also thanked advocated A. X. Varghese, who legally supported Thomas’ struggle in these 16 years. Varghese has also promised his services in case goes to Supreme Court, Thomas said.
