Thiruvananthapuram, November 22 : After two priests and a nun were arrested by the CBI in the Sister Abhaya murder case, Kottayam Knanaya Catholic Archdiocese, to which the accused and the victim belonged, said the Church wanted the investigating agency to bring out the truth in the case. The Church also challenged the CBI to expose those who had tried to subterfuge the probe in the past.

The Church's poser would further deepen the mystery behind the suspected murder of the nun. There had been strong allegations about the involvement of outsiders in the unholy affairs at Pious Xth Convent in Kottayam, where the nun was found dead in 1992.

Archbishop Mathew Moolakkattu, in his pastoral letter to be read out in churches under the diocese on Sunday, said they had always co-operated with the CBI. "Several times, I had told the CBI teams that their probe was not exhaustive, and many crucial issues and persons had been deliberately kept out of the purview of the investigation. Though the officials had promised impartial and exhaustive probe, the result was otherwise," he said.

The Archbishop said the Church had never attempted to derail the probe. "We have a firm stand that truth should come out. The forces responsible for the death of Abhaya should be booked. The diocese is least concerned about who all had been involved in her mysterious death," said the letter.
