A Brooklyn teacher was told not to come to work Thursday after being accused of sexually abusing a student more than 20 years ago.

Robert Mistretta of Nazareth Regional High School, seen above, was accused of sexual abuse by his former student, 38-year-old retired NYPD Officer Phil Repaci.

Repaci, who said he was abused when he was 15, decided to speak up after recently learning that the coach and science teacher was still working at the East Flatbush school.

"It pains me deeply that I have not come forward sooner for the thought of protecting any other innocent children from harm. But that is what has brought me here today," said Repaci.

A statement released by the school's principal, Barbara Gil, says, "The safety and protection of our students are our primary concern; however, we must remember that these are only allegations and have not been proven to be true."
