MAMARONECK, N.Y. (AP) - A Catholic priest has been arrested after a woman told New York police he fondled her four years ago.

The Rev. Richard Ordonez, who often works at St. Vito's parish in Mamaroneck, is accused of sexual abuse. Village police Lt. James Gaffney says the alleged victim is an adult.

Ordonez was arraigned and jailed Monday night and is due back in court Dec. 18.

Lucian Chalfen, spokesman for the Westchester district attorney's office, said Ordonez does not yet have a lawyer.

The Rev. James Healy, pastor at St. Vito's, did not return a call.

Joe Zwilling, spokesman for the New York Archdiocese, said Ordonez, who is from Ecuador, is not a priest of the archdiocese but was working in New York "with permission," which has now been withdrawn.
