Six children associated with the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries will remain in state custody, an Arkansas child welfare official said today.

Julie Munsell of the state Department of Human Services would not offer any other details about the children. A father to several of the children said authorities found them in Indiana.

State Circuit Judge Mark Hewett held a closed-door hearing today to decide where the children should be placed for the next 30 to 60 days.

Child welfare officials have seized 32 children associated with the ministry since FBI agents and Arkansas state police raided the evangelist's compound in Fouke this fall.

Alamo, 74, is jailed in Texarkana on federal charges he took children across state lines for sex. He has pleaded not guilty.
