MILWAUKEE - A judge in Milwaukee County today ordered an elderly nun to serve out her jail sentence. Sister Norma Giannini has serve eight months of a year long sentence for a conviction on charges that she sexually assaulted boys while attending St. Patrick's School in Milwaukee during the 1960s.

Giannini's attorneys told the judge that the sister's health is failing and that she may die while in jail.

Giannini is 80 years old. She pleaded no contest to two felony counts of indecent behavior with a child and was sentenced in February to a year in the Milwaukee County House of Correction.

Giannini's victims say they are relieved that she will stay in jail. "We got a life sentence, this just doesn't stop. So here we got a life sentence and she got a year," said Jerry Kobs, one of the Sister's victims.

In a statement the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas says the situation remains tragic for everyone involved. Click Here to read the statement.
