Kochi, Dec 11: Kerala High Court Thursday permitted the counsel of Sister Sephy, arrested by CBI in connection with the sister Abhaya case, to meet her in prison.

Justice K Hema directed Superintendent of Ernakulam sub jail to allow the counsel, M K Damodaran, to meet the accused.

The direction was issued when the bail applications of Sephy and two priests-- Father Thomas Kottur and Fr Jose Puthrikayil, who were also arrested, came up before the court.

As the arguments in the case went on, the court wondered whether the discrepancies in the case diary during the initial days of investigation was the result of manipulation or suppression.

The case has been posted to Dec 15.

The Bishops council also gave its approval to the gender policy prepared by the KCBC's women's commission. Women should be given pride of place in the family and church activities, Althara said. The policy will come into effect from next year.

The KCBC also decided to observe Jan one next as 'Anti Terrorism' day. Special prayers would be held in churches throughout the state on that day and homage would be paid to the victims of terrorist strikes.

Targetting a particular community for the terrorist activities in the country was not right, the KCBC said.

Althara said December 26 will be observed as prayer day for those killed in the Orissa violence.
