I regret that the Catholic Church covered up sexual abuses by some of its priest. It should not have happened, and it was wrong. They have implemented procedures to help prevent this from happening in the future. I fervently hope no child has to ever go through that abuse again.

On a positive note, I served on the altar from the time I was 8 years old; my three sons did also. In all my years serving my church, I have always been treated with dignity and respect. The priests I have worked with helped make me who I am today. I certainly have flaws (don't we all?), but their calling helped to instill strong morals, love for family, and a belief that my actions affect those around me, both positively and negatively.

Again, I am deeply saddened by the actions of a small number of priests, and the Catholic Church's actions in covering it up, but we can't use a broad brush to paint everyone into a picture when not all belong there. Thank you to all the priests I have known in my 46 years. You continue to enrich my life through your service.
