Athens author Eugene Bianchi will sign his latest religious-thriller "The Children's Crusade: Scandal at the Vatican" 7 p.m. Wednesday at Borders.

The fictional story revolves around scandals within the Catholic church, including controversies related to sex, abuse and cover-ups scaling the hierarchy of the church.

We want photos of your holiday lights

The Athens Banner-Herald and onlineathens.com is looking for the brightest, craziest, most festive outdoor Christmas decorations of 2008.

If you are the Clark Griswold of your neighborhood, e-mail us a photo of your display by Dec. 17. Then, the weekend before Christmas, vote on your favorite at onlineathens.com.

Winners will be published online and in print - including addresses, so you can check out the displays in person.

To enter, e-mail a color photo of your house or yard, along with your name, address and phone number. Entries can be e-mailed to news@onlineathens.com.

Photo entries also can be dropped off by Dec. 17 at the Banner-Herald news building, One Press Place, during regular business hours.

Calls from the Clauses

Children ages 4 to 10 are invited to register for the call list to receive a phone call at home from Santa or Mrs. Claus.

Participants will receive a call between 6 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 18 or 19. All calls will be coming from the North Pole. Calls will only be attempted twice.

For more information, or to place a child's on the call list, call (706) 613-3603.
